Unaccounted for time could lead to lost revenue.

The question is, do you want to simplify your business operations related to employees' time cards and payrolls?

If YES, save both your time and money. Use the hours worked calculator to calculate the hours and minutes worked by each employee. Calculate the lunch breaks and other small time-off periods during the day. Create their daily, weekly, and bi-weekly payrolls.

How to use the work time calculator to calculate the hours and minutes worked?

Instead of manually calculating the employees' time hours and payrolls, use the free time card calculator to automatically calculate the hours worked and generate the gross pay for each employee.

To use the time card calculator, follow the step-by-step instructions.

  1. For each employee, either select the weekly option to get the one-week time entries or the bi-weekly option to get the bi-weekly time entries.
  2. Select your "Days in a week." You can choose between Five or Seven days.
  3. Select the overtime rate option if your employee worked overtime. There are two overtime rules, either the employee will receive overtime pay for over 7.6 hours per day or 38 hours per week. Every employee who works more than 7.6 hours per day or 38 hours per week is eligible for overtime pay. But, they may vary depending upon the employee's agreement and industry standards. Thus, you can also select the "Exempt" option if the employee is not entitled to overtime.
  4. Select the employee's base hourly pay rates and choose the overtime rate.
  5. Enter the employee's name and select the currency.
  6. The tool provides two options, "Auto-Fill" and "Daily Totals Only." In case of availing any of those, first, select the option and then fill the entries.
  7. Break down the hours your employee has worked each day.
  8. Add the times worked with lunch breaks and time off. Enter the time in and time out for each of the employees.
  9. Our employee time clock calculator converts the hours and minutes to decimal format as you enter the employee's time in and time out.
  10. The tool calculates the employee's total worked hours and total gross pay, per your provided instructions.
  11. Once you have completed the information, you can download the employee's timesheet in CSV format or get its hard copy using the "Print" option.
  12. If you want to convert a CSV file to an Excel file, you can use CSV to Excel Converter.

Some common issues to address

  • Usually, in some companies, few employees are paid on an annual basis. Such employees are exempt from overtime pay. But, not all employees come in such a category. Thus, it would be best if you classified the employee. If the employee is eligible for overtime, and you are not paying that off. You may face potential litigation or penalties for not applying the award wages.
  • Research shows that employees provide an average of two months of works to an employer for free every year. If the employee works for over 7.6 hours per day or 38 hours per week, it must be paid for overtime. The manager can negotiate with employees for not paying for overtime. But the employer cannot deny the employee's overtime pay right.
  • In each company, usually, the employee is eligible for tea and lunch breaks. But, that is not a proper standard. You must check all the guidelines in your relevant industry related to such breaks. It also depends upon the agreement that you have with your employee. Because if you are not providing the breaks that your employee is eligible for in your employees' hours calculator. You are at the risk of litigation or penalties.
